Family Circles: Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP)

Today, a growing number of grandparents are finding themselves parents a second time around.  They represent all socioeconomic levels and ethnic groups, and there are many contributing factors to this growing trend.

Although relatives might not be financially, physically, or emotionally ready to raise another family, they take on this responsibility out of love for their children and their families.  This is a daring and daunting act of love—one that deserves all the support available.  That support is available here.

The Family Circles: Relatives as Parents Program is an education and support group for grandparents and other relatives who have become the primary caregiver(s) for their child(ren)’s child(ren) or another relative’s child(ren).  The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday nights (except Maundy Thursday and holidays) and is open to any family in this situation throughout the Oklahoma City area.  The group meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m., starting with a light meal, followed by separate activities for the adults and the children, with a pre-school nursery provided for the younger children.  There is no charge.  Questions?  Call Debbie Keith in the church office or email her at: PastoralAsst.NCCC@coxinet.net.
